Bradford Bulls chairman Peter Hood quits ahead of EGM vote

Bradford Bulls chairman Peter Hood has quit the cash-strapped club.

Hood was expected to leave the post later this month after a vote of no confidence against him was instigated by former chairman and majority shareholder Chris Caisley.

Fellow director Andrew Bennett, who faced the same vote at an extraordinary general meeting, has also left Odsal.

"Peter thought it was the best thing to step down now," chief executive Ryan Duckett told 91热爆 Radio Leeds.

"I'm the only remaining director at the moment but I'll be meeting with shareholders in the next day or so and we'll take things from there."

In a statement, Hood said: "Chris has indicated he has investors waiting in the wings who are ready, willing and able to get on board, but apparently they are not prepared to do so under the present regime.

"Andrew and I have concluded that the interests of Bradford Bulls and its players, coaches and staff are best served by us making way for Mr Caisley and his cohort now, rather than awaiting an EGM at which we are bound to be out-voted."

Caisley has been linked with launching a bid to take over at Odsal, but Duckett is uncertain what the former chairman's intentions are now that Hood has stepped aside.

"It's unknown at the moment. Clearly Chris is involved but what role he's going to play going forward we don't know right now," he added.

The club, who currently lie eighth in the Super League table, are fighting for survival after Hood launched a campaign in March to raise 拢1m to keep it afloat.

Duckett says he is keen to not place the club into administration, as they continue to seek new investment.

"I don't think it's in our interests. The shareholders have indicated that's the last thing they want," he continued.

"It wouldn't be good for the club to go into administration because of the potential points and players loss that would mean.

"We need a significant amount of income but the amount the fans pledged was fantastic and has bought us time."
