As 2011 draws to a close, the UK's Olympic year is nearly upon us, and excitement is mounting about London 2012.

Organisers, architects and builders have been battling against tough deadlines and tougher economic conditions to ready venues fit to host the world's largest sporting spectacle: They are nearly there.

With just over 200 days until the opening ceremony, the Olympic Park in east London is 90% complete, and due to be finished early next year.
