Welshman Elfyn Evans finished a career-best second in the French round of the World Rally Championship in Corsica.

M-Sport's Evans finished 43.10 seconds behind Rally of France winner Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland.

Northern Ireland's Kris Meeke finished fourth and is sixth after 11 rounds with Evans seventh.

Frenchman Sebastien Ogier, who had already clinched his third straight world title in Australia, finished out of the points.

Ogier's Volkswagen experienced tyre and engine problems on the first day.

The 11th round of the championship was reduced to just seven special stages because of the storms that have swept the Mediterranean island.
