Frankel to miss Arc and run in Champion Stakes at Ascot
The world's top-rated racehorse Frankel will miss the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and run in the Champion Stakes at Ascot on 20 October.
Frankel stretched his unbeaten record to 13 for trainer Sir Henry Cecil in York's Juddmonte International over an extended mile-and-a-quarter.
The win prompted speculation he might go up to a mile-and-a-half for the Arc.
But owner Prince Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said the colt will run at Ascot.
Cecil has never won the Arc at Longchamp, which takes place on 7 October this year.
But he had always preferred the mile-and-a-quarter Ascot race as a potential swansong for the four-year-old Frankel, who is due to start a breeding career at stud next year.
