England's Chris Wood extended his lead at the Iberdrola Open to four shots with one round left in Mallorca.

The 23-year-old fired 69 to reach nine under and close on his maiden Tour win, with Ireland's Shane Lowry and Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke second.

European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal is another shot adrift, just days after the funeral of his friend and Ryder Cup partner Seve Ballesteros.

Gregory Bourdy, Scott Jamieson and David Lynn are all three under par.

"Tomorrow could be a big day for me but I need to try and treat it like any other round of golf," said Wood, who finished in the top five at the Open in 2008 and 2009 and was second in the Africa Open in January.

Olazabal carded 66 and said: "I don't remember putting so well in such a long time - I made 23 putts, there aren't many putt days like today. Tomorrow I will go out there and fight like every day."

European Tour rookie Matthew Dixon, playing in the final group with Wood, stumbled to a six-over 76 to drop 10 shots back.
