Caernarfon’s European adventure came to an end as Legia Warsaw scored five second half goals to advance in the Europa Conference League.

Legia were leading 6-0 from the first leg and after a goalless first half the Polish side added a further five goals in the second half sealed an 11-0 win on aggregate.

Visiting fans were banned from buying tickets for the game at Bangor’s Nantporth after the club was sanctioned by Uefa for trouble at last season’s match away to Aston Villa.

But a group of Legia fans still managed to watch the game from an adjoining holiday park.

Legia made eight changes to the side that had started the first leg while Caernarfon’s only change saw Joe Faux replacing Phil Mooney.

Caernarfon had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Faux found the advancing Louis Lloyd free and onside but the forward attempted lob went over the crossbar.

Legia had the ball in the back of the net with Tomas Pekhart finishing off Jordan Majchrzak’s smart through ball but fortunately for the hosts it was ruled offside.

Caernarfon enjoyed plenty of possession and Faux had a speculative effort cleared towards the end of a goalless first half.

But the Cymru Premier side went behind straight from the restart when Bartosz Kapustka fired home from inside the penalty area.

Three minutes later Legia went further ahead when their captain, the former Poland international Artur Jędrzejczyk, headed home.

Pekhart added the third on 54 minutes scoring from close range at the far post following Ryoya Morishita’s low cross.

Substitute Jean-Pierre Nsame lobbed the Caernarfon keeper Stephen McMullan to make it 4-0 on the night and 10-0 on aggregate with 18 minutes remaining.

Sergio Barcia headed a fifth with seven minutes remaining from Morishita’s corner.

Caernarfon’s Ryan Sears was sent-off after receiving a second yellow card for a handball offence late in the game.
