Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer made 19 saves - a Bundesliga record - but Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane finally beat him in an enthralling draw.

Sadio Mane had two goals disallowed for offside for the German champions.

Gladbach scored with their only shot of the first half when Marcus Thuram ran through from the halfway line after a Dayot Upamecano mistake to slot in.

Sane finally scored into the bottom corner from Jamal Musiala's pass.

That was Bayern's 25th shot of the game and 15th on target.

They had chances to win the match too, and when Sommer denied Benjamin Pavard in injury time, that was the Swiss keeper's 19th save of the game.

The previous Bundesliga record for saves was set earlier this year, with Alexander Schwolow's 14 stops for Hamburg - also against Bayern - although his side lost that game 4-1.

Both Bayern and Gladbach remain unbeaten after four games this season.
