Michal Zyro: Wolves home debut in striker role pleases Jackett
Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett was delighted with the response he got from new signing Michal Zyro, who scored twice in a winning home debut against Fulham after being moved up front.
Jackett signed Zyro, 23, from Legia Warsaw as a winger and played him on the left side of midfield in Saturday's FA Cup third-round defeat at West Ham.
After the sale of Benik Afobe to Bournemouth, Jackett took a hunch.
"Getting two goals on your home debut is a great start," Jackett told 91热爆 WM.
"I felt he could do it and, right the way across the front line, I think he's a very good option for us. I stated when we signed him that I thought he could play in any of the front positions.
"He played wide for Legia Warsaw but came inside and, in the 4-3-3 system they play, he didn't really get out onto the touchline very much. He was practically playing inside-right.
"It's a different set-up, but I do feel, technically and physically, he has a lot to offer English football."
Jackett continued: "Exactly what his best role is going to be, I don't know, but he's made a good start. He played well at West Ham and was excellent for us against Fulham.
"He's physically strong enough and aggressive enough to handle himself in English football, and that's something that attracted him to us."
Wolves were 17th in the Championship at Christmas and just seven points clear of trouble following a 4-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
But their fourth successive league win - the second time they have achieved such a run at Championship level under Jackett - has lifted them to 10th, just seven points behind the play-off places.
How to impress the other half
Poland international Zyro was particularly pleased with his efforts in the 3-2 win against Fulham - as his fiancee had turned up in the Black Country to watch.
"I dedicate my goals to our fans, and my fianc茅e," the 拢350,000 signing told 91热爆 WM. "I'm very excited she is with me.
"The town is very friendly and good for me. People want to help me. The team spirit is very good. We played very well. It was an important win."
Kenny Jackett & Michal Zyro were speaking to 91热爆 WM's Mike Taylor.
