Fraser Fyvie: Hibernian midfielder banned for simulation v Rangers

Hibernian midfielder Fraser Fyvie has been suspended for two matches for feigning injury in an incident with Rangers' Andy Halliday.

The Ibrox midfielder appeared to aim a kick at Fyvie before barging against his arm with his shoulder. The Hibs player reacted by clutching his face.

Halliday was sent off as a result and his appeal against the red card will be heard on 7 January.

Rangers won 4-2 to move three points ahead of Hibs in the Championship.

The Scottish FA compliance officer said Fyvie's actions caused referee Bobby Madden to make an error and offered the 22-year-old a two-game ban, which he opted not to contest.

Fyvie was ruled to have "committed an act of simulation in that you feigned that you had received a blow to the face or head" during Monday's game.

The former Aberdeen and Wigan player will miss two matches against Raith Rovers - a Championship meeting in Kirkcaldy on Saturday, then a Scottish Cup fourth-round meeting in Fife a week later.

Rangers subsequently lodged a claim of wrongful dismissal against Halliday's charge of violent conduct.
