Grant Holt: I enjoy 'getting stick', says Wolves' on-loan striker
Wolves' Grant Holt says he is not bothered at the prospect of 'getting stick' when the former Norwich City striker visits Ipswich this weekend.
The much-travelled 34-year-old, on a two-month loan from Wigan Athletic, has never lost at Portman Road - and was part of a 5-1-winning team on his last visit with the Canaries in 2010.
"I probably won't get the warmest welcome but that's football," he said.
"I haven't lost there and I actually enjoy being the old pantomime villain."
Holt told 91热爆 WM: "If someone wants to give me stick, I'm not really bothered, as long as they expect a little bit back.
"I've never not had stick anywhere," jokes the big Cumbrian, who has hit 181 goals in 12 years since his delayed entry into league football with Sheffield Wednesday, the first of his 10 league clubs, in March 2003.
"If you're getting stick and you're getting shouted at and people are screaming at you, you've obviously done something to annoy them or you're obviously doing something well enough to bother them. If anyone forgets who I am or stops talking to me, then I'm in trouble."
Wolves have won just once in six games since Holt arrived in late October on loan from Wigan until 2 January, but a goalless draw with automatic promotion contenders Burnley going into the latest international break showed what they are capable of.
They go into Saturday's game still in touch in 14th, five points behind former Wolves manager Mick McCarthy's Ipswich, who are four places better off in 10th.
"Ipswich are similar to ourselves," said Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett. "Just above us in the table and working really hard to make sure the top six doesn't get too far away from them. They're capable obviously. A very good squad of players, a very good management team, and finished in the play-offs last year, so they have strong capabilities."
Grant Holt was talking to 91热爆 WM's Mike Taylor.
