Dani Alves: Barcelona defender signs new contract
Barcelona's Dani Alves has signed a new two-year deal to remain at the club.
The 32-year-old Brazil right-back, who was set to be out of contract this month, had been linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester United.
Alves has spent seven years at Barca, and on Saturday claimed his third Champions League title with the club, featuring in the 3-1 win over Juventus.
He later tweeted: "I have followed my heart and the hearts of those who love me."
Barcelona are under a transfer embargo and would have been unable to replace him until January.
On Monday, they signed Sevilla's Aleix Vidal - who can play at right-back - for an initial fee of 拢13m, rising to 拢16m. However he will not be able to play until halfway through the season.
Alves has also collected five La Liga titles and three Spanish Cups with the Catalans, including one of each in this year's treble.
Barcelona retain the option to extend the deal by a third year into 2018.
