Manchester City Women: Steph Houghton signs new contract
England captain Steph Houghton has signed a new contract with Manchester City until the end of the 2017 season.
The 27-year-old former Arsenal defender joined City in January 2014.
She was named as England captain three months after her move, and will lead the team at next month's World Cup in Canada.
"I'm extremely delighted. It was always in my mind that I wanted to be here for longer. I feel so at home at Manchester City," Houghton told the
"I knew I wanted to be part of the club's future over the next few years. I feel we're heading in the right direction.
"I love the city. I love my life here. It was a very easy decision."
Manchester City currently lie sixth in Women's Super League One, after collecting five points from their first five games.
Before starting their World Cup campaign, England face hosts Canada in a friendly on Friday, a game live on the 91热爆 Red Button.
England's first group-stage game is against France is on 9 June, before they face Mexico on 13 June and Colombia on 17 June.
