St Johnstone consider Bury midfielder Joe Thompson
St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright will decide over the next few days whether to offer a contract to Bury midfielder Joe Thompson.
The 26-year-old Englishman, who can play on the right or left side, has been on trial with the Perth club.
"He is here for a couple of more days and we will make a decision next week," said Wright of the player who only made eight appearances this season.
"He has impressed and we are certainly keen on him."
Thompson, who began his career with Rochdale, signed for Bury last summer after leaving English League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers.
That came weeks after being given the all-clear following a battle with cancer.
However, Thompson has made only four appearances for Bury, all from the substitutes' bench, the last of which was in November.
He has since had loan spells with Wrexham and Southport in the Conference Premier, playing four times for the latter.
Meanwhile, St Johnstone lost out to Ross County in their attempt to hold on to Brian Graham once the striker's loan from Dundee United ends this summer.
The 27-year-old, who has scored 10 goals during his season-long loan, has agreed a two-year contract with Saints' Scottish Premiership rivals.
