Ben Foster: West Brom & England goalkeeper out for six months
West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster has been ruled out for six months with a knee injury.
The 31-year-old England international was hurt during the Baggies' 1-0 win over Stoke on 14 March.
He underwent reconstruction surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament on Friday, his club confirmed.
Albion's director of performance, Mark Gillett, said: "Ben is in good spirits despite this obvious disappointment to him."
It was initially predicted that Foster would miss just four weeks but exploratory surgery revealed the severity of the damage.
Foster, who has eight England caps, is targeting a return to the first team in October, West Brom said.
Boaz Myhill replaced Foster in the 56th minute at Stoke and started Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City.
