Raheem Sterling has put contract talks with Liverpool on hold until the end of the season, says boss Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds manager said Sterling and his representatives had told the club he wanted to concentrate on his football.

The 20-year-old England forward's current deal expires in 2017 and he has yet to agree terms over a new contract.

"It has been made clear by Raheem's representative he wants to concentrate on his football and see what can be resolved in the summer," said Rodgers.

"I am sure it will be resolved and the concentration for Raheem is now on his football, and it is clear when those talks will begin again."

Sterling has been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea but Rodgers said in February that Liverpool would not pay over the odds to keep him at Anfield.
