Cardiff City defender and coach Danny Gabbidon played for American MLS side Chicago Fire in a friendly against Queens Park Rangers, on Thursday.
The Welsh international, 35, had permission from the Bluebirds to take part in the 1-0 victory for the American outfit.
Gabbidon has played just twice for the Championship side this season.
His current Cardiff deal is due to expire in the summer and a move to the US could help extend his career.
The centre-back first played for Cardiff between 2000 and 2005 before joining West Ham.
He re-signed for the Bluebirds at the start of the 2014-15 season and was also handed a coaching role, by then manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Gabbidon also took temporary charge of Cardiff, along with Scott Young, when Solskjaer departed in September.
