Harry Davis: Crewe defender signs new two-and-a-half contract
Crewe Alexandra defender Harry Davis has signed a new two-and-a-half contract with the League One club.
The 23-year-old son of Alex manager Steve Davis was due to reach the end of his current contract this summer, but he has now signed up to remain at Gresty Road until the summer of 2017.
Meanwhile, Watford striker Uche Ikpeazu has been recalled from his Alex loan.
Just 24 hours after extending his loan with Crewe until the end of the season, he is to join Doncaster Rovers instead.
"It's disappointing for us," Alex boss Davis told 91热爆 Radio Stoke. "How quickly things change in football.
"We'd planned for him to be here. We'd agreed that well in advance, but they've now recalled him, so there's not a lot we can do.
"We'd just got him a flat and got him out of the hotel he's been in and he'd just bought himself a TV. He didn't know anything about it, so I don't know whether the directive came from the club or his agent.
"But that's football. Doors close and others open in football so it's an opportunity for others, whether it's Marcus Huber, Lauri Dalla Valle or George Cooper, to come into a confident team playing well. Either that or continue the search for someone else."
Centre-half Davis, who is just two games short of 150 appearances for the club, has come up through the ranks having been reared in the renowned Crewe Academy.
"I've been here since I was seven, so I know the club inside out," he said.
"I still have ambitions to play at as high a level as possible, but I'm really enjoying my football here right now, standing in for Matt Tootle as skipper and playing in a more confident team.
"We look much better than we did at the start of the season. We're looking up now. Our results show that."
