Bury overcame a stubborn Carlisle side with two goals from Daniel Nardiello.

Following a bright start by the home side, Nardiello converted a penalty after Danny Mayor was brought down just inside the area.

The Cumbrians levelled when Courtney Meppen-Walter's long strike could only be parried and Steven Rigg drilled home from close range.

The Shakers created numerous chances and were rewarded when Nardiello dinked over onrushing keeper Mark Gillespie.

On an eventful afternoon for the former Barnsley, Exeter and Rotherham striker, Nardiello also had a header ruled out for pushing and missed a second penalty for the chance to complete a hat-trick.

Carlisle had good opportunities to level in the second half through David Amoo's header and Rigg forcing Nick Pope into an excellent close range save.

David Flitcroft's side have now won three of their last five games and move into the play-off places, while Carlisle have lost four in five and are just a point above the relegation zone.

Bury boss David Flitcroft told 91热爆 Radio Manchester:

"I thought my team was fantastic from start to finish, certainly last 15 minutes as well the way they managed the game out.

"I found something out about my team there, then in the last sort of 10 minutes, they know how to manage a game, they know how to dig in. They know how to manage big moments and that's what they've done."

On the state of the pitch: "It's failed miserably from what we had at the start of the season but now I've got to adapt and I've got to make sure I don't use it as an excuse."
