Bristol City coasted to victory over Notts County to return to the top of the League One table.

Joe Bryan put the Robins ahead inside the opening 10 minutes, bundling Jay Emmanuel-Thomas's cross over the line.

Matt Smith then scored his ninth goal in five matches, tapping home after Luke Freeman's pull back.

After the break, Emmanuel-Thomas fired cleverly past Roy Carroll and Derrick Williams slotted a fourth to seal City's biggest win of the season.

With Swindon not in action until Monday, the result lifted Bristol City back to the summit of League One, three points clear of Town and six points above MK Dons in third.

Notts County, meanwhile, slip to 12th after a run of three successive losses.

"I think there could have been a few more goals in it for us.

"But I think we showed in parts how good we've been this season, especially with the goals.

"The goals were fantastic goals today, the passing and movement up to them was tremendous.

"But we also showed parts of us today where we looked like we've had a long week."

Notts County boss Shaun Derry told 91热爆 Radio Nottingham:

"It's the lowest point of this season.

"I'm lost for words at how we conceded the goals today. All four goals were defensively disgusting.

"We've come to a big team that's probably got the pick of the players at our level, so it was always going to be difficult.

"But the way we conceded the goals today gives us some huge problems."
