Bolton Wanderers have signed Max Clayton on a three-year contract after agreeing compensation with Crewe.

The 20-year-old striker rejected a new contract with the Alex in the summer and trained with Sunderland and Wolves, as well as Championship club Bolton.

After coming through the academy at Crewe, 91热爆 Radio Stoke reports they could receive a fee of around 拢300,000.

Clayton, who was born in Crewe, scored 16 goals in 92 appearances for his hometown club.

The England Under-20 international did not feature for Crewe after breaking his ankle last November, with manager Steve Davis deciding against using his for the final months of the season as they battled relegation despite his return to fitness.

With the move to Bolton rumoured to be close earlier this week, Davis said he thinks the move to the Championship can help Clayton's career after not having the impact he wanted in League One.

Clayton is eligible for Saturday's game against Wolves at Molineux.
