Anthony Griffith: Shrewsbury Town sign former Port Vale midfielder
Shrewsbury Town have signed former Port Vale midfielder Anthony Griffith - their 17th new recruit of the summer.
The 27-year-old Huddersfield-born Montserrat international has agreed a one-year deal, having left League One side Vale for a third time after not being offered a contract this summer.
"I feel blessed to still be given the opportunity to play football," he said, following a pre-season hip operation.
"I'm glad to be back on my feet and thriving at the chance to get going."
Griffith, who has also played for Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient, was a spectator as Micky Mellon's men capped their bright start to the season with a 1-0 League Cup second-round win at Leicester on Tuesday.
"I went to watch the game against Leicester and I was stunned, to be honest," he said. "It was amazing.
"I've always known that Shrewsbury have good players. The one big plus for me coming here is the manager. His man-management skills are fantastic. Micky does things in the right way and speaks to people in the right manner, which is fantastic.
"And, from what I saw against Leicester, the club is only going in one direction. My target is to play, get promoted and see where we are."
