Emmanuel Adebayor ruled out of Tottenham tour with malaria
Striker Emmanuel Adebayor will miss Tottenham's tour of North America after being diagnosed with malaria.
Adebayor, 30, was admitted to hospital on Saturday with what Spurs describe as a "mild bout" of the disease.
He is expected to be released on Monday, but will be unable to return to training for at least a week.
"A swift diagnosis meant the disease was detected at an early stage and he is responding well to treatment," said a Tottenham statement.
Spurs begin their pre-season tour with a game against Seattle Sounders on 19 July, before playing Toronto FC and Chicago Fire.
They visit West Ham in their first game of the Premier League season on 16 August.
Former Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Adebayor scored 14 times last season.
