Nemanja Vidic says joining Inter Milan is a 'step forward'
Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has described his move to Inter Milan as a "step forward".
The 32-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Serie A club after eight seasons at Old Trafford.
Inter finished fifth in Serie A last season and will compete in the Europa League this term.
Vidic said: "I have joined one of the big European clubs. I don't think this is a step backwards in my career, I believe this is a step forward for me."
The Serb defender enjoyed a trophy-laden eight-year spell at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, three League Cups and a Club World Cup.
He added: "Even if I had stayed at United I would not have played in the Champions League.
"Inter are one of the top clubs in the world, with a great history and tradition. There was a new project in place and I immediately liked it."
