Luke Varney: Blackburn Rovers sign ex-Leeds United striker
Striker Luke Varney has signed a one-year contract with Blackburn after being released by Leeds United.
The 31-year-old spent the final three months of the 2013-14 season on loan at Rovers, making 12 appearances.
Varney spent two years with Leeds after joining from Portsmouth in the summer of 2012, scoring eight goals in 50 games for the Championship club.
He is the second summer signing made by Blackburn, following Doncaster forward Chris Brown's move to Ewood Park.
Meanwhile, Blackburn have confirmed the departures of midfielder Dickson Etuhu and striker DJ Campbell by mutual agreement.
Etuhu's time with Rovers was affected by injuries, restricting him to just 24 appearances in two years, while Campbell failed to score in 16 outings for the club.
Young defender Jack O'Connell, who helped Rochdale win promotion from League Two during a season-long loan last term, has signed a new two-year deal.
