MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has said he would be interested in signing Scunthorpe striker Sam Winnall.

The 23-year-old scored 23 times in 49 appearances as the Iron were promoted from League Two last season.

"Before I do anything I would speak to the manager of the team. I haven't spoken to Russ Wilcox at all yet," Robinson told 91热爆 Three Counties Radio.

"But I think he is somebody a lot of teams would be interested in, it's not just me."

Robinson's side finished 10th in League One last season, 14 points off the play-off places, and the Dons boss has said he is chasing six different strike targets.

One of those is not Rochdale's Scott Hogan, who scored 19 times last term, as Robinson believes former Wolves youngster Winnall would be better value.

"Scott Hogan scored 19 and is being touted around for an awful lot of money. And here's Sam who has scored a lot of goals," he said.

"I'll be speaking to the manager before we do anything. He's not the only one I'm hanging my hat on."

Robinson had attempted to bring in Stevenage winger Luke Freeman, who has joined Bristol City, but believes the Ashton Gate side were able to offer more money.

"I think he is one of the best wide players in the league," he said.

"But what Bristol City are doing financially is going to blow everyone else out of the water."
