Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood says midfielder Sandro was not in his squad for the 3-1 win over Fulham because "he is not good enough at the moment".

The Brazilian has not played for Spurs since 20 March and tweeted before the Fulham match that he was not injured.

"He's entitled to do what he wants," said Sherwood. "He's right, he's not injured. He has got qualities but I am picking people ahead of him.

"I don't care about reputation, When I think he is good enough he will play."

Sandro's Brazilian compatriot and fellow midfielder Paulinho put Spurs ahead against Fulham only for Steve Sidwell to equalise.

However, goals from Harry Kane and Younes Kaboul put the White Hart Lane club back in front before Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris saved a Sidwell penalty.

The victory kept Spurs in sixth place and four points adrift of Arsenal, in fourth, and three behind fifth-placed Everton, with both their rivals playing on Sunday as Arsenal travel to Hull and Everton welcome Manchester United to Goodison.

"It wasn't a fantastic performance against Fulham but it wasn't horrendous," said Sherwood. "Overall, I'm pleased.

"At this stage of the season it is going to be a tough game whoever you play in the league so to come away scoring three goals and getting the three points is very pleasing."
