Nigel Pearson - Leicester City will not make wholesale changes

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson says he will not be overhauling his squad in preparation for their return to the Premier League.

Pearson insists he will keep faith with the side which has ended Leicester's 10-year top-flight absence.

However, nine City players and Pearson himself are out of contract at the end of the season.

"I don't think there is anything to be gained by wholesale changes," Pearson told 91热爆 East Midlands Today.

"As always we will try improve the squad with the right touch. There won't be huge changes.

"We have got a lot of players here who are capable of making the step up, they have worked hard and deserve the opportunity as well.

"With the work ethic we have, and the quality we have within the squad, it's a really good foundation.

"If we can add the right players to that, then of course we will try to do that, but we certainly shan't be looking to make wholesale changes."

The approach served the Foxes well this term, with no significant summer signing made after their promotion bid ended in a dramatic play-off semi-final defeat to Watford last term.

Pearson also confirmed that his contract negotiations and that of his players, including goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent and Lloyd Dyer, remain ongoing.

"I don't see that as being a huge issue as far as the players are concerned, and it's not something I've thought about myself," Pearson added.

"I've said all along that if we achieve success, then hopefully things would take care of themselves and I have a lot of trust and faith in the owners.

"I'm not really too interested in that as a topic of conversation at them moment - it's important that we try enjoy the rest of the season and achieve the next goal which is to finish at the top of the league."

Nigel Pearson's Foxes also give 91热爆 Late Kick Off Midlands exclusive access behind the scenes at the club's training ground in a special promotion feature.

No areas were off limits, from Pearson's office, to the his players, medical department, recruitment and sports science team.

You can watch the feature on 91热爆 One in the Midlands from 23:25 BST on Monday, 7 April and on the 91热爆 iPlayer.
