Dan Seaborne's first Coventry City goal eased their League One relegation fears as they beat bottom side Stevenage.

The visitors went close twice in the first half, Francois Zoko's header hitting the post before Luke Freeman's effort was cleared off the line.

But, on 67 minutes, Seaborne met a John Fleck corner to head home the winner.

Stevenage keeper Steve Arnold then saved Callum Wilson's penalty after Bira Dembele handled, City's Joe Murphy ensuring victory with a late save.

Murphy once again came to Coventry's rescue with a brilliant reflex save, tipping Zoko's fierce goalbound shot onto the bar.

Coventry climb six points clear of the relegation places, while Stevenage remain at the foot of the table, but only two points from safety.

Coventry's latest loan capture Nathan Eccleston had an 18-minute run on his debut as a late substitute, just hours after joining the Sky Blues from Blackpool.

Victory came at a cost, midfielder Fleck picking up his 10th booking of the season for a foul on Curtis Obeng, to earn an automatic two-match ban.
