Second-half goals from Chuks Aneke and Mesca gave Crewe victory over Carlisle.

Aneke saw an early header tipped on to the crossbar by goalkeeper Ben Amos but was not denied after half-time, chipping over him into the far corner.

That came after Carlisle's David Amoo hit the inside of the post before the break, but on the hour the game looked safe as Bradley Inman's cross bobbled to Mesca who obliged from close-range.

Tom Lawrence curled in a 25-yard free-kick but Crewe survived a late barrage.
