Portsmouth's match with Wycombe was abandoned at half-time with the score level at 1-1 because of a waterlogged pitch at Fratton Park.

The game began fine but a torrential downpour made conditions unplayable.

Wycombe had led through Billy Knott after he fired in from the edge of the area via the underside of the bar.

Patrick Agyemang stretched out a leg to level from close range just before the break but after an inspection referee Lee Collins called it off.

"Player safety is paramount and both managers agreed with me that it was the right decision," Collins told 91热爆 Radio Solent.

"It's never easy to postpone a game in these circumstance but the weather just didn't subside.

"It's never easy but when you have two managers and a safety steward who understand the situation then it makes it easier."

"I remember playing in a game with Alan Knight where he got battered by hail stones. That was unbelievable.

"The referee came to us halfway through the first half when there was thunder and lightening and asked us if we had some concerns. We both wanted to see if we could keep playing but at half time he had no choice.

"There were a few tackles where players were sliding in and the ball was stopping.

"I don't think any team wants to take part in a game that is quite dangerous. We will have to get ourselves ready for Torquay now."
