Irish League player of the month Darren Boyce has admitted he almost turned down his loan move to Dungannon Swifts.

Boyce has been a big hit since joining the Stangmore Park club, scoring 12 goals, and he was voted November's top player by the NI football writers.

His form has led to speculation that Coleraine will want him back when the loan deal ends in January.

"I did not want the loan deal at the start because of the travelling, but it has been amazing," said Boyce.

"I did not think it would be this good.

"I had not had a good run of games for three years because of injury and whatever else.

"It is so good to have a manager who believes in me - that gives me confidence.

"It is all down to the manager and the team around me."

Former Glentoran striker Boyce scored seven goals in November, including two against Ards and a hat trick in the 3-1 win over Glenavon.

Crusaders winger Paul Heatley was runner-up in the NIFWA poll with Ards midfielder William Faulkner in third.
