Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett says Dean Lyness will be given the chance to prove himself as the League Two club's number one goalkeeper.

The 22-year-old started in Saturday's win at Fleetwood after loanee Jordan Pickford was recalled by Sunderland.

Rowett praised the former Birmingham trainee's performance in difficult conditions at Highbury.

"He is a young boy desperate for his chance and he did fantastically well" he told 91热爆 Radio Derby.

"It was an easy game to drop and spill things. He was assured and his kicking has improved a lot."

Lyness joined the Brewers from Kidderminster in July 2012 and made 18 appearances in all competitions last term.

Burton signed goalkeeper Mats Morch from Championship side Derby County on a one-month loan deal last week, and the young Norwegian was on the bench against the Cod Army.
