Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has praised Farid El Alagui for his crucial brace in their 3-2 Capital One Cup win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Rosler told 91热爆 London 94.9: "He went through great difficulties in terms of his injury and has always shown fighting spirit.

"It is fantastic a day like this comes around for him. It will build his confidence sky high."

The Bees had trailed at half-time to the League Two side and, after goals from El Alagui and Martin Fillo had put Brentford ahead, they needed a late winner from the former Falkirk frontman to make the second round following Josh Scott's equaliser.

Rosler was pleased with the fighting spirit his side showed in the second half at Griffin Park.

"The first half was disappointing and we never really got playing," the German said.

"The 4-3-3 didn't work in midfield, positioning-wise and how we passed and crossed the ball.

"We need to show more bravery and determination to score goals from crosses. You need somebody to attack the ball.

"We changed and played the second half with Martin Fillo as a second striker in the hole and got Stuart Dallas in a wider position.

"Martin was finding very good positions and Paul Hayes did well in central midfield and got us playing better.

"The players did very well in terms of bouncing back and they really wanted to win.

"We get more games, which is important for the squad."
