Bristol City & Ipswich: Emmanuel-Thomas & Anderson in swap deal

Bristol City have signed Ipswich's Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on a two-year deal, with winger Paul Anderson moving the other way in a swap deal.

Ipswich paid Arsenal 拢1.4m for Emmanuel-Thomas, 22, in July 2011 but he was placed on the transfer list in May after falling out of favour.

Anderson, 22, joined City from Nottingham Forest last summer and played 30 games for the Robins.

City have also signed free agent Scott Wagstaff on a three-year deal.

The midfielder, 23, came through Charlton's academy but was released by the Addicks this summer after five years in their senior team.

"The manager and the coaching staff really sold it to me," Wagstaff told 91热爆 Radio Bristol.

"I'm excited for a new challenge now. It's a massive club and I'm looking forward to something different."

Former Hull and Liverpool trainee Anderson was brought to Ashton Gate by former boss Derek McInnes but struggled to maintain a regular starting place, with 11 of his 30 appearances coming off the bench.

Emmanuel-Thomas played 75 times, scoring nine goals, in two years at Portman Road but only managed three starts from October to May last season.

The London-born forward previously worked under Bristol City head coach Sean O'Driscoll during a loan spell at Doncaster in 2010, where he scored five goals in 14 games.

"He [O'Driscoll] had a big influence on my decision to come here as I know how he likes to play and I know what he expects of me," said Emmanuel-Thomas.

"I had a really good spell with him at Doncaster. I thought by returning back to him I could get back to how I was."
