Oldham Athletic: Robbie Simpson among five players released
Versatile forward Robbie Simpson is one of five players to be released by League One side Oldham Athletic.
Simpson, 28, impressed enough during the 2011-12 season to earn a one-year deal with the Latics last summer.
Goalkeepers Dean Bouzanis and Liam Jacob, midfielder Connor Hughes and striker Daniel Taylor will also leave.
"Each case had different circumstances and I will give them glowing references," manager Lee Johnson told the
"I would like to thank them for their efforts, willingness and work-rate since I have been here. The football club is ever evolving and I would like to wish them all the best in their careers."
Contract offers have been made to David Mellor, Kirk Millar, James Tarkowski and Carl Winchester, while discussions are ongoing with Alex Cisak, Lee Croft, Jean-Yves M'voto and Matt Smith.
Oldham have also taken up the option to extend the deals of Glenn Belezika, Connor Brown and Cliff Byrne by a further year.
