Torquay United: Alan Knill praises 'first class' win

Torquay United boss Alan Knill has hailed the spirit of his team after their crucial 3-2 win over Barnet at the bottom of League Two.

The win sees the Gulls move a point clear of the second relegation place, which is occupied by Barnet.

"I thought the performance was first class," Knill said.

"The players showed great character to go forward, we didn't go into our shell as we may have done in the past," he told 91热爆 Radio Devon.

The win, which ended a three-game losing streak for the Gulls, means Football League survival is back in their own hands.

Knill also singled out captain Lee Mansell for particular praise after the victory.

"He was outstanding. Up to Saturday's game, which was called off, he was touch and go as to whether he would play, and he epitomises everything you want in a team.

"[He has] energy, aggression and he's got quite a bit of quality in him and I'm a big fan.

"He drives the team on and he leads by example and I thought he did that tonight, but everybody did."
