Brentford: Richard Lee sidelined after shoulder operation

Brentford goalkeeper Richard Lee will miss the rest of the season after having a shoulder operation.

The 30-year-old was scheduled to undergo surgery in the summer but he fell heavily while warming up for Saturday's match at Carlisle.

Brentford's head of medical Neil Greig said: "Richard has been troubled by the injury for some time now.

"This condition has led to us to need to closely mange his training load throughout the current season."

Lee, has made six appearances in all competitions this season.

"Following consultation with a leading orthopaedic specialist, the decision was made to bring forward the procedure in order to allow the Richard the best opportunity of being fit for the early part of next season," Greig told

"The procedure [on Thursday] was deemed a success and Richard will now undertake reasonable period of rest, prior to beginning a structured rehabilitation programme.

"The aim of this programme will be to return Richard to his previous levels of outstanding performance for Brentford in the coming season."
