Ciaran Caldwell headed in a late winner against Donegal Celtic to maintain Cliftonville's 14-point lead at the top of the Premiership.

DC made an impressive start but Stephen Garrett netted after Niall Murphy parried his shot to put the Reds ahead.

Ryan Deanes scored a deserved equaliser for the strugglers when he slotted in from a Kevin Hughes pass.

Substitute Caldwell popped up with an 84th minute winner, heading home from Ronan Scannell's cross.

Reds midfielder Ryan Catney fired over before Donegal Celtic began to edge affairs in the first half.

Paul Bradley and Kevin Hughes went close for the visitors while Eamon Hughes headed straight at keeper Conor Devlin.

However, Cliftonville took a 34th minute lead when Garrett's mazy run ended with a shot which Murphy could only parry into the path of the midfielder, who duly netted.

It was harsh on DC but Deanes brought them level on 57 minutes after good work from Kevin Hughes.

Cliftonville striker Joe Gormley saw his deflected shot go wide before Tommy Breslin's team showed they had the stuff of champions by striking late for a crucial three points.

Scannell created the goal with a pinpoint cross and Caldwell headed in from close-range to clinch the victory.
