Dungannon Swifts eased their relegation worries and heaped further pressure on bottom club Lisburn Distillery by winning Saturday's Premiership clash.

Whites keeper Lee Windrum denied Ryan Harpur and James Costello in the first half while Gary Liggett headed a great Distillery chance wide.

The visitors dominated after the break with Andy Hunter heading wide and Niall Morgan denying Scott Davidson.

However, Emmet Friars headed the Swifts winner 12 minutes from time.

The goal came as Friars headed a Harpur cross past Windrum as Dungannon moved 10 points ahead of the basement club.

Keeper Morgan was making his last Dungannon start before his move to Mickey Harte's Tyrone GAA squad.

Midweek signing Costello was making his Dungannon debut and he was denied twice by Windrum in the first half at Stangmore Park.

Whites keeper Windrum also moved smartly to stop a Harpur free-kick but the best first-half chance fell to Liggett in the 31st minute as he headed wide from close range.

Distillery dominated the third quarter with Hunter heading wide in the 47th minute and Davidson then testing Morgan.

A draw appeared the likely outcome but Dungannon clinched a vital three points 12 minutes from time as Friars heading Harpur's cross past Windrum.

The defeat keeps Distillery four points behind second bottom team Donegal Celtic.
