Fernando Torres: Chelsea's more direct approach helps me
Striker Fernando Torres says Chelsea's slightly more direct approach is behind his return to form.
The Spaniard scored twice in the 3-1 away win over Sunderland to end a run of 12-and-half hours without a Premier League goal and take his tally to four goals in two games.
Torres told 91热爆 5 Live: "We are playing a bit differently now. We do not pass the ball as much as we did in the final third and we play a bit more direct.
"It was a long time not to score."
The Spaniard did not find the net in his first three matches under new interim Blues manager Rafael Benitez.
But he set up Juan Mata's goal in the defeat by West Ham and scored twice in the 6-1 mauling of Nordsjaelland in midweek.
And his double against the Black Cats means he has now scored 11 goals in 25 Chelsea games this season.
"We are attacking more and creating more," Torres added. "Normally, it takes some time with a new manager but the last two results will give us more confidence."
Benitez was quick to praise the team for helping Torres rediscover his form in front of goal.
"We have been working very hard and we were ready," Benitez said. "It was good game and a great performance. We had a lot of people coming here. It is long trip and I am really pleased for everyone.
"I am delighted for the team, the club and the fans. Obviously Fernando scoring goals is good for us because he is a striker.
"It's fair to say that we are watching now a Fernando with more confidence and with more belief and, at the same time, the team is the same way.
"I was analysing his movement before and we were adjusting little things. It's a question of confidence and just little different movements.
"But we have to give credit to all the team because they were doing a very, very good job.
"He is doing well because the team is helping him. If we create more chances he will score more goals.
"The team was in control for a long time. Maybe the injury to Oriol Romeu changed a little bit our shape, but it was a deserved victory."
