Will Buckley says Brighton owe their fans after defeat against rivals
Brighton & Hove Albion winger Will Buckley says they will have to make it up to their fans after suffering a defeat against rivals Crystal Palace.
The Seagulls lost 3-0 to the Eagles at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The 23-year-old told 91热爆 Sussex: "We will have to make amends in the games to come. It will probably be on Albion fans' minds forever.
"We need to get it out of our system. The more important thing is the season and how we kick on from here."
Despite the distance between the two clubs, they have been fierce rivals since the late 1970s.
Brighton have now won only one of the last seven meetings between the two sides stretching back the last 10 years.
Their cause on Saturday was not helped by a red card for centre-back Lewis Dunk within the opening 10 minutes of the game.
"I'm gutted for the fans and everyone involved with the club," Buckley added.
"It was a devastating day. It didn't go well and it was just rubbish.
"The sending off changed it as we had started off well and it could have been a great game but it wasn't to be.
"We just weren't good enough and we tried keeping them out until half-time but unfortunately they got the goal and it killed the game.
"We had to go at them and with 10 men it was hard as we couldn't get into the game and our passing game wasn't there.
"When we play them at home, we have to make sure we beat them."
