Everton recall Ross Barkley from Sheffield Wednesday
Everton have recalled midfielder Ross Barkley from his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Toffees have brought the 18-year-old back early after skipper Phil Neville was ruled out for up to eight weeks following knee surgery.
Barkley joined the Owls on an initial one-month deal in September before extending the deal on a week-by-week basis last month.
He made 13 appearances for the Championship side, scoring four goals.
Neville, 35, underwent surgery on Friday and missed Everton's 2-1 defeat by Reading on Saturday.
Barkley, who made his Premier League debut against QPR last season, has played nine games for David Moyes's side.
