Glenavon improved their recent run of poor league form by beating Donegal Celtic, who drop to bottom place in the Premiership following this defeat.

Gary Hamilton fired home from eight yards after Guy Bates had pulled the ball back across goal on seven minutes.

Andy McGrory scored the second on 19, his fourth goal in three games.

David McAllister pulled one back on 76, Kyle Neill made it 3-1 with a free-kick, Paul McVeigh found the net and then Brendan Bennett scored on 93.

The Lurgan Blues came into the game on the back of a poor record of just one point from their last seven league matches.

After Hamilton's opener, Ciaran Doherty provided the assist for the second.

John Connolly denied Mark Haughey and Conor Downey and Mark Miskimmin had chances for the visitors.

The latter stages of the second half saw a glut of goals, with Hamilton relieved that his side came out on top to build on their win over Glentoran in the League Cup quarter-finals.

McAllister's goal was a fine individual effort as he made a piercing run before firing home a left-foot shot.

McVeigh stabbed in a right-foot strike, but Bennett took advantage of a defensive blunder by the away team, before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into the empty net.
