Mark Hughes says QPR still need more time to settle
QPR boss Mark Hughes says Rangers will be a different side when they finally get a first league win of the season.
Rangers have failed to win in their opening 10 league fixtures, and they only climbed off the foot of the table on goal difference after the 1-1 home draw with fellow strugglers Reading.
"The key is the first win and once we get that we can settle down and play our football," Hughes said.
"We're in situation nobody anticipated, but we are working exceptionally hard."
Hughes added: "We need to get maximum points on the board. The longer it goes on, the more irritating it becomes.
"We have potential in this team but need a bit of time for it to come together. When it does we will play some good stuff here and people will enjoy watching us. But at the moment it is a bit of struggle."
Rangers were second best for much of the first half against the Royals and trailed to a well-taken strike from their former defender Kaspars Gorkss.
But they improved considerably after the break and, after Djibril Cisse equalised, they had several good opportunities to win.
Hughes was encouraged by the second-half revival and is convinced a first league victory is just around the corner.
"It has been a difficult period and we have had difficult games," he said. "But I have been a Premier League manager for many years and I understand what it takes. The sooner we get the win the better.
"It was certainly better in the second half. In the first half we did not acquit ourselves very well. They had a gameplan to lock us in our own half and that is what they were able to do. We conceded a poor goal, but we made a much better fist of it in the second half. We scored a great equalising goal and we could very easily have won it.
"Credit to us in the second half. We made a much better game of it. We were brave on the ball and took the game to Reading.
"The initial period we found difficult and we couldn't get on the ball. We conceded a goal from a set-play but the second half was much better.
"Teams will not allow us to play an expansive game so we have to be able to deal with that.
"On another day we will possibly think it is a good point, but at the moment we think it's two points dropped."
