Bury 2-0 Portsmouth

League One strugglers Bury picked up a crucial three points with victory over managerless Portsmouth at Gigg Lane.

The Shakers led when Zac Thompson's shot through a crowded penalty area nestled in the bottom corner.

They should have doubled their lead when Troy Hewitt went one-on-one with keeper Mikkel Andersen but fired wide.

Bury did get a second, from a disputed penalty when Carl Dickinson was deemed to have fouled Dominic Poleon, with Steven Schumacher firing home.

Portsmouth caretaker manager Guy Whittingham told 91热爆 Radio Solent:

"In the second half, we weren't as good as we were in the first half, I think that's what's given them a lift. They came out of the blocks a lot quicker in the second half.

"When you're on a run like this, there's just hard work that's needed.

"[On starting Ashley Harris up front] That's his best position up there. He's an intelligent footballer and I think if he gets some more games up in that area then people will start realising what he's got to offer. He'll get sharper, it's been a while since he played up there."
