Luis Suarez gave masterclass - Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said Luis Suarez's hat-trick in the 5-2 win at Norwich. capped a "special day" for the player and team.
Suarez also scored three goals against the Canaries in April.
And he helped earn the Reds their first league win of the season and first under Rodgers.
"His goals here were incredible last year and this was another masterclass in finishing apart from the one-on-one chance," said Rodgers.
Suarez struck in the second minute and, after being denied a penalty and producing a glaring miss, he added a second.
He set up Nuri Sahin for Liverpool's third and, despite Steve Morison pulling one back for Norwich, Suarez completed his hat-trick with a precise low shot for his fifth league goal of the campaign.
Steven Gerrard added a fifth for Liverpool, while Grant Holt added Norwich's second.
"His [Suarez's] first goal was terrific," said Rodgers.
"The second one typifies him because he missed his easiest chance he had, but he didn't get disappointed, won back the ball, nutmegged the defender with an incredible piece of skill and then to finish the way he did was brilliant."
Rodgers was again unhappy that Suarez was not awarded a penalty when referee Mike Jones did not deem a foul by Leon Barnett on the Uruguayan worthy of a spot-kick.
"It was a stonewall penalty," said the Reds boss, who spoke to referees' chief Mike Riley in the past week to air concerns over the decisions against his side.
"I feel for the guy [Suarez], I really do. Everyone in the ground knew it was a penalty.
"Today the young guy Barnett elbowed [Suarez] in the head and gave him a wee nudge just to make sure, but [Jones] still didn't give it.
"If Luis is a player who goes down too easily he would have done so in the second half when a defender caught him just before the fourth goal.
"Maybe one day we will get the decision. Until that point we just continue to concentrate on our performance."
While Rodgers paid tribute to the contribution of Suarez, Norwich counterpart Chris Hughton was unhappy with his defence.
"You cannot afford to give them the opportunities we gave them and that is disappointing," he said, with his side still without a league win this season.
"We will make no excuses or for the points we have got so far this season.
"We are all still annoyed, disappointed and angry with the goals that we conceded because it doesn't matter who you are playing if you give the opposition those sorts of opportunities there's every chance you could lose."
