Queen of the South 1-0 Albion Rovers

Queen of the South went joint top of Division Two as they edged out an Albion Rovers side who remain without a goal this season.

Derek Lyle put the Doonhamers ahead when he applied the finish to Nicky Clark's right-wing cross after 21 minutes.

The visitors faced an uphill struggle to get back into the game after James Gilmartin was sent off for foul and abusive language in the 42nd minute.

But Todd Lumsden's men were given a golden opportunity to level the scores, and break their duck, when Keiran Brannon was brought down by Mark Durnan inside the area.

Jason Crooks stepped up to take the spot-kick, but Lee Robinson pulled off a fantastic save, low to his right, to maintain the hosts' advantage.

Substitute Christopher Boyle had a late effort easily kept out by Robinson as the Wee Rovers brought up 450 minutes without a goal this season.
