Blackburn resurgence helped by fans' backing - Steve Kean

Blackburn boss Steve Kean says his team's recent run of three wins in five games is the result of greater togetherness at the club.

Rovers' 2-0 victory over Sunderland completed consecutive wins for the first time in Kean's reign.

"I think the fans are seeing the just rewards for their efforts in getting behind the team," Kean told 91热爆 Sport.

"We win together and lose together but they are starting to see some performances and some points."

Goals by Junior Hoilett and Yakubu followed up Blackburn's victory at Wolves 10 days ago to lift Kean's side six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Coming after fan protests earlier in the season calling for Kean and Indian owner's Venky's to leave the Lancashire club, the turnaround in fortunes has been remarkable.

The win over Wolves was their first clean sheet of the season, and to double that tally against Sunderland has also buoyed Kean,

"There's been times this season when [the atmosphere] has been a bit fragmented," the 44-year-old Scot stated.

"But, of late, over the last 11 games the amount of points we have picked up, all the way back to Liverpool away and Manchester United away, the travelling fans and the atmosphere inside the ground has been exceptional. That gives us a platform to go and perform."

Kean added: "The partnership of Yakubu and Junior Hoilett at Wolves caused them problems, so we decided to stick with that but probably more impressive was the way we are playing off the ball and defending.

"To get back-to-back wins and also back-to-back clean sheets at a time when we have to produce some performances and results, I'm delighted for everybody."

Blackburn are now due to face Bolton on Saturday but it is uncertain whether that game will go ahead following the cardiac arrest suffered by Fabrice Muamba in last Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Kean has said he will respect Bolton's wishes whether the game will go ahead or not.

"We go to Bolton under difficult circumstances," he said. "But it's still a big game if it's on.

"We're absolutely delighted Fabrice is making progress and I know that it will be an emotional game, but we have to go there and try to add to the points we got tonight."
