Jason Roberts signs for Reading from Blackburn Rovers

Jason Roberts has left Blackburn for Championship side Reading on an 18-month contract for an undisclosed fee.

The striker, 34, has dropped down the pecking order under Steve Kean this season, having played only 12 games amid a contract dispute.

The 91热爆 Radio 5 live media pundit has recently aired his frustration at the lack of first-team football.

Meanwhile, Swiss club Young Boys say right-back is to open contract talks with Blackburn.

Grenada international Roberts was also been linked with a move to Ipswich over the summer.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic striker, who has been at Ewood Park since July 2006, to his contract in January 2011.

Roberts scored twice in the final three games of the 2010-2011 season as Blackburn avoided relegation from the Premier League.

Royals chairman Sir John Madejski believes manager Brian McDermott has pulled off a transfer coup.

Speaking on the club's website, Madejski said: "I am delighted a man of Jason Roberts' calibre has decided to sign for Reading.

"He will bring enormous experience to the club, and I wish him every success in helping his new team-mates."

Meanwhile, Sutter, 25, has left Young Boys' winter training camp in Spain to discuss the move to Blackburn.

Young Boys said in a statement that it would not block Sutter from fulfilling his dream to play in the Premier League.
