Former manager Paddy Kelly has vowed to never go back to Donegal Celtic's ground following his acrimonious departure from the Premiership club.

Kelly stepped down as boss last Friday and a number of other club officials and coaches also resigned.

It is understood the problem is a dispute between the football division and the social club at Suffolk Road.

"I have been there for 30 years but my time is finished. I will never set foot in the place again," said Kelly.

"The last week or two have left a bitter taste in the mouth.

"There have been tensions between the social end and the football end of the club for some time."

The club's first team coach Sean Hawkins has been acting as caretaker boss since Kelly's departure and he was in charge for Tuesday's Irish Cup replay win over Institute.

Kelly, who said he was worried about the club's future, revealed he had spoken with the players and that they were annoyed about what had happened.

"They want answers, just as I wanted answers. Obviously I did not get them.

"I told them the facts and what I thought. They accepted my decision.

"I told them to stay on and try to win at trophy for Donegal Celtic."
